Abstract
The author departs from traditional historiography to establish three distinct moments (1821, 1823 and 1838) in which the Central American countries announced their political separation, first from Spain, then from Mexico and other hegemonic centers of power and, finally, to disintegrate the Central American federation. These processes responded to the conveniences of the hegemonic elites, so the participation of sectors that have been segregated for centuries has not been studied.
